Answers from Kate H.

Learning to live with losing her Father.

Who did you lose?

Father

How old were they?

56

How old were you?

22

How long have you been grieving?

Almost 13 years

What's your fondest memory of the person you lost?

His singing, he sang a lot! Just him being there with his guitar and turning an everyday moment into a musical memory.

What emotions did you feel within your first year of grief?

Complete shock as it came completely out of the blue, I was ill for a long time with digestive troubles and stress. I was angry at the situation and the fact that I didn't get chance to say goodbye. I also have guilt because my Dad was someone who would save me from all kinds of situations and he would support me through many things I was scared of, beyond most parents of grown up kids. He would come to the dentist with me because I was scared to go alone and I wish I could have extended the same to him after he expressed he had been feeling ropey a few weeks before on a day trip to Southport, instead I simply told him to go and get seen by a doctor.

How do you prefer people to comfort/mention it?

I love to talk about them and keep their memory alive

Have you had any type of therapy for your grief?

No but I'd like to
